Insurance Program Intern - Summer 2025

The Weitz Company is hiring an Insurance Program Intern to join our Des Moines office for the 2025 summer. The Insurance Program Intern will perform a range of work to promote and execute insurance department initiatives including database management and assisting the Insurance Program Manager with documentation management.

Interns receive hands-on work experience, while working alongside our team of talented professionals. It is important to us to ensure our students are successful, and we work hard to ensure each intern walks away with tangible experience.

What You'll Do:



  • Assist the Risk Management department with administrative tasks while learning about insurance programs
  • Propose and implement innovative process improvement ideas for managing our insurance policies and documents in our database
  • Perform data entry, data cleanup, policy checks, endorsements, renewal binder, policy reviews, and file maintenance
  • Create and improve reports for the Risk Management department
  • Attend internal and external meetings with other departments, construction project teams, insurance brokers, law firms, etc.
  • Assist in creating training material for the Risk Management department



What We're Looking For:



  • Education:

    • Currently obtaining a college degree in business management, risk management, insurance management, or a related field


  • Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
    • Organized with excellent time management skills
    • Strong proofreading and editing skills
    • Self-motivated with a desire to learn


  • Technology:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
