Objective:

The Desk Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the Security Operations Desk at a facility in Las Cruces, NM. This role will serve as a primary contact point/interface with internal and external clients requiring security support and guidance. The Desk Officer will ensure adherence to Post Order and other directives.
Essential Functions:
Read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public. The ability to maintain a professional, tactful and courteous demeanor under stressful situations security personnel routinely encounter. Be able to compose precise short paragraphs, written reports, and other reports in the English language as necessary.

Job Duties:


The Desk Officer will be responsible for utilizing Close Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, alarms and access control systems covering multiple locations to maintain situational awareness and to promote the detection, reporting and response to security issues/incidents both proactively and reactively. This includes the provision of security services focusing on:
  • Serving as the primary interface between multiple locations/ components, for matters related to security incident reporting; as the primary point of contact for staff to engage the security team on threats/risks/vulnerabilities to staff, the premises or assets of the company; identification of threats or risks via CCTV, alarm and access control systems, and to support staff with basic security issues (lost items/ID cards, issuance of ID cards, verification of authorized access, etc.).
  • Receives and responds to routine, urgent and emergent calls for service from the Security Control Center; Must be a self-starter, requiring minimal oversight as well as being organized and capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Desk Officers demonstrate a thorough knowledge of customer operations/needs including external and internal clients, as well as expertise in customer procedures to guide, manage and support security projects.
  • Desk Officers should be able to write detailed reports, develop and distribute snapshot reports to various groups and to security managers; prepare and present briefings to senior managers.
  • Ensures physical security, through monitoring and reporting of violations or security compromises
  • Monitors Indications and Warning (I&W) via CCTV, alarms and access control
  • systems, and is responsible for determining when an issue needs to be communicated to relevant authority.
  • Coach and provide guidance to less experienced professionals. Act as team or task lead when needed.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in cooperation, collaboration and multi-stakeholder engagement in a security environment.
  • Experience supporting security operations desk operations (e.g.: watch operations, multi-agency communications/coordination, or knowledge of cooperative/coordinated security management) ideally in a law enforcement or military environment.
  • Monitor and report on weather, earthquakes, flooding potentials, major fires, etc., that could have an impact on company operations. This includes the use and monitoring of various websites, applications and media sources.
  • Support mass-communications processes, to include dedicated software, cellular text messaging, e-mail and other systems.
  • Specific certifications or education/training may be required, depending on job assignment.
Candidate Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be 21 years of age
BA/BS preferred, minimum of a High School Diploma + appropriate law enforcement or military training.
5+ years of related experience (Specialized Security, Law Enforcement, Military or similar) with 2+ years of customer/client engagement experience.
Proven experience in managing general information/threat intelligence collection and reporting processes.
High level of customer/client orientation, including the ability to engage and support VIP/special visitor interactions in a professional and competent manner.
Active NM level III security guard Card
The applicant is required to submit to pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.
