JOB OVERVIEW: Marriott Syracuse Downtown, managed by Crescent Hotels and Resorts, the premier full-service hotel in Central New York, is seeking a qualified security professional to join our team. This individual will serve as the security officer-in-charge in the absence of the Security Manager. The security officer-in-charge will play an essential role in the safe and successful operation of the hotel in the evening hours. REPORTS TO: Security Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Patrol the interior, perimeter, and parking garage of the hotel to observe and identify potential safety risks, security issues, and undesirable conditions.
  • Respond to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fire and medical emergencies, and threats to life and/or property.
  • Be observant for suspicious persons entering or loitering in and around the property. Promote safe work practices.
  • Initiate preliminary investigations into incidents, as needed.
  • Write reports and ensure accuracy of necessary documentation, as needed.
  • Maintain daily activity logs and pass along relevant information to outgoing and incoming security personnel.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
  • Monitors CCTV system.
  • Work closely with other departments to maintain a seamless operation.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests and visitors.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the safety of our guests and associates.
  • Support and give supervision to other security officers on duty.
  • Effectively communicate and work alongside the Security Manager to ensure all directives in the property post orders are followed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Thorough knowledge of the layout of the building, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas. Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 150 lbs. Sufficient manual dexterity in hands. Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A current New York State Security Guard License is required within the first 30 days of employment. Having the NYS Security card at time of offer is preferred. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays preferred.
