Responsibilities

The MCS (Mechanical Circulatory Support) Coordinator, in collaboration with the Advanced Heart Failure Team, participates in all aspects of in-patient and out-patient care and services provided to the Ventricular Assist Device / Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (VAD/ECMO Therapy) patient population.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • 3-5 years of Cardiovascular or Heart Failure or critical care nursing experience
  • Upon hire, initial education must include:
    • VAD Aware Online Module
    • LVAD 101 Course
    • Specific manufacturer device training courses
  • Annual education requirements must include:
    • Caring for at least 3 VAD patients and/or teach 3 VAD training courses each year
    • Must participate in at least 2 ongoing VAD education opportunities
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Care of Patients with VADs
