About the Role

As our Data Governance Risk Manager, you'll provide second line risk oversight for our Data Management program. You'll partner with business and technology leaders to shape, guide, and advance an enterprise-wide data governance framework that ensures data is accurate, accessible, consistent, and secure. You'll play a critical role in elevating our organization's data practices and ensuring regulatory compliance, while championing a culture of data stewardship.

What You'll Do

  • Lead & evolve the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, framework, and supporting processes.
  • Serve as the second line of defense-providing risk consultation on data governance, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee policy and procedure development related to data quality, security, lineage, and stewardship.
  • Guide implementation of data governance technology systems, including metadata management, data lineage, and monitoring tools.
  • Partner with stakeholders across departments (data stewards, analysts, risk, audit, and IT) to embed governance best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on data governance for senior executives, internal audit teams, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide governance training and facilitate business engagement through steering committees and working groups.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) for data governance and risk mitigation.
  • Support and align with the bank's broader data transformation strategy.
  • Stay current on emerging data regulations, risks, and industry frameworks (DCAM, DAMA, GDPR, etc.)

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk, Information Technology, Data Science-or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in data management, risk management, or IT with a strong governance focus (7-10 preferred).
  • Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience working with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of metadata, data lineage, quality standards, and stewardship practices.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders across business and tech.
  • Certification in data governance (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, DAMA) preferred-or ability to earn within 1 year.
