Essential Job Duties |
The Business Performance & Insights Analyst serves as a strategic business partner within the Poole College of Management, playing a vital role in aligning data insights with organizational goals. This position requires a deep understanding of college operations and the ability to collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making. This position will not be tied to a single department or program and will support the needs of all departments in the Poole College of Management.
The Analyst supports key initiatives by identifying opportunities, interpreting trends, and providing actionable recommendations that enhance student success, faculty engagement, and operational effectiveness. This position will oversee the creation of centralized data within the college, which will include the gathering, cleaning, and housing of the data. The Business Performance & Insights Analyst role will then oversee how the data is accessed, how it's interpreted, and how to leverage it for the desirable outcomes in each department.
Rather than focusing solely on data analysis, this role emphasizes building relationships and fostering collaboration to address complex challenges. The Analyst acts as a trusted advisor, leveraging data to inform strategic planning, improve processes, and support policy and program development. Success in this role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to translate data into meaningful strategies that align with the College's mission and priorities.
Professional Knowledge
- Act as a strategic business partner within the Offices of Business Services in the Poole College of Management, collaborating closely with leadership and departments to achieve college objectives.
- Leverage data to inform key decision-making processes and drive organizational success across various initiatives.
- Ability to ensure integrity of information systems, internal controls, and data, including recommending modifications as required.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of college operations, metrics, and institutional policies to support strategic planning and operational improvements.
- Combine advanced program management skills with a strong understanding of institutional metrics to address complex challenges.
- Provide actionable insights to departments within the college, ensuring alignment with overall goals.
Program Supervision and Administration
- Establish clear expectations and provide direction to achieve program goals, such as centralizing data and enabling its effective use across departments.
- Foster collaboration across college units to support cohesive and efficient operations.
- Coach and facilitate the enhancement of employee competencies, guiding staff to develop skills aligned with organizational needs.
- Address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues within the program or area of responsibility, maintaining high standards.
- Review and approve moderately complex work findings and written reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ensure program rules and regulations are correctly interpreted and consistently applied in alignment with university policies.
Critical Thinking
- Analyze moderately complex situations to identify challenges and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations that align with institutional priorities.
- Provides practical solutions to complex problems and ensures decisions are well-informed and forward-thinking by integrating data insights with an understanding of college goals.

- Leads change initiatives that align with the evolving needs of the Poole College of Management.
- Fosters a culture of innovation and adaptability, supporting teams in navigating transitions and optimizing processes to achieve strategic objectives.
- Ability to remain flexible to meet constantly changing and sometimes opposing demands.
Communication and Marketing
- Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to present technical and strategic information in accessible and impactful ways, fostering understanding and driving collaboration.
- Utilize data insights to inform communication strategies, enhancing stakeholder engagement and promoting organizational success.
- Work closely with stakeholders to support institutional and departmental objectives, ensuring team alignment and mutual understanding.
- Ensure accurate interpretation of data, program policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, providing clarification and support when needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a higher education setting.

- Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, data visualization, and data management.
- Expert experience with google sheets or excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree preferred.
- Familiarity with higher education data systems and reporting standards.
- Experience with ability to learn the key workings and structure of the business school.
- Experience with SAS VA, Tableau, or Smartsheet.
