Position Summary |
This IT Web Designer/Developer - 1 position supports the
NIMH Psychoactive Drug Screening Program (
PDSP)as the
PDSP web developer. This position will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the current information system (IS). The
PDSP administrative and scientific team will use this web application to administer the program, track requests and samples, deliver results to registered users and prepare progress reports to the sponsor agency. The
PDSP uses open source software like Ubuntu,
PHP,
CSS, jQuery, MySQL, Yii framework. The
PDSP is integrated with output files from robotic lab equipment and plate readers. This position requires the management of confidential/encrypted data. This position will help to support/revamp other
PDSP applications. Operational tasks such as back-up and help desk duties may also be required. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Master's or Bachelors and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to problem solve quickly and on the fly.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Strong programming ability in
PHP,
SQL, JavaScript,
HTML, jQuery, and
CSS. Able to learn new languages, APIs, and platforms quickly.
Experience with as many of the following is preferred but not required:
- Version control such as Git.
- Comfortable working with multiple OS including Linux, Windows, Mac.
- Responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap.
- Knowledge of security configuration and implementation in a web implementation environment.
- Basic statistical analysis to develop graphics functionality.
- Additional programming languages would be a strong asset.
- Server administration skills would add value to the candidate.
- Experience with database design, system design, and specification.
- Ability analytical data analysis and resulting documentation and presentation of such.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work under a timeline.
- The candidate must have organizational skills and be detailed oriented.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Technical experience and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in building, maintaining, and mining a Relational Database in a pharmacological environment and or basic knowledge of pharmacology would be a plus. |
