POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Logistics position is responsible for the oversight of the safe and efficient routing of company trucks and third-party carriers to satisfy customer delivery requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing order optimization activities, coordinating load assignments to drivers, monitoring customer inventories, managing customer supply obligations, and handling customer communications. This position also has direct oversight of the dispatch team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Oversee the communication of dispatch assignments to drivers in a timely manner to ensure driver productivity using TMW and Total Mail software
  • Ensure dispatch team is properly managing customer fuel inventory levels and schedule deliveries to meet our customers' inventory standards.
  • Provide guidance to dispatch team as they assign orders to drivers to meet customer requirements including delivery windows, supply obligations, equipment requirements, special delivery instructions, etc.
  • Identify when order demand in Source One's geography exceeds available capacity and coordinate with approved common carriers to meet demand expectations.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, drivers, operation managers, and management to resolve logistics and service issues.
  • Monitor driver logs and schedule drivers' daily activities accordingly to ensure DOT compliance.
  • Ensure driver dispatch assignments and all driver communications support Source One's safety culture.
  • Ensure dispatch team is properly scheduling inventory managed deliveries based on current tank levels in order not to exceed the ninety percent safe fill level.
  • Maximize loaded mileage percentage of all dispatched units on a daily basis through route optimization and TMW order analysis.
  • Solicit business from customers when available capacity exceeds demand or to increase loaded miles.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Managers to schedule preventative maintenance and repair of equipment to maximize truck availability and utilization.
  • Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiencies through better use of drivers, equipment, and technology (TMW).
  • Work as part of a team environment and answer phones, handle customer service issues and work with various internal departments as needed.
  • Provide excellent service by communicating clearly and professionally to customers, colleagues and management.
  • Manage driver and dispatch team time off schedule to ensure proper shift coverage at all times.
  • Perform billing liaison duties to ensure efficiency of full billing cycle.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Supply Chain, Transportation or Business Administration from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to listen to others, express ideas both orally and in writing and provide relevant and timely information to clients, managers, etc.
  • Ability to understand problems and make timely, practical business decisions
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Strong computer skills; Experience working in Windows, Internet Explorer and MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Note: Petroleum industry knowledge experience a plus.
  • Analytical/Problem-solving skills to solve complex logistical 'puzzles.'
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Experience in the TMW, PeopleNet, and TotalMail software or related transportation management systems preferred.
