Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Department of Accountancy and Business Law at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer beginning August 2025. Initial term is one year with the option to renew on a yearly basis.
The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching accounting courses and service to advance the mission of the department, school, university, and/or the academy and accounting profession. Instructional duties include teaching four classes per semester. Successful candidates will be able to teach multiple undergraduate and graduate accounting courses including financial and managerial accounting.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Student advising.
- Course development.
- Commitment to fair-share service, e.g., committees, student organizations, and internship supervision.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- A Master's degree in Accounting or a related business field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Accounting is required at time of application.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Relevant professional licenses and/or certifications (i.e., CPA, CMA, CISA, etc.)
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level, preferably in both face-to-face and online environments
- Relevant professional experience in industry or public accounting
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, SIMnet, etc.) and the Microsoft Office Suite

Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The department serves over 325 Accountancy concentration students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. The department provides multiple courses in the Cameron School of Business core curriculum and the Accountancy and Business Law minor. We also offer the Master of Science in Accountancy degree (which graduates 50-60 students annually and is considered one of the flagship graduate programs on campus) and provide core accounting and business law courses in the Business School's online Master of Business Administration program. |
