TEMP - Laborer

Summary

Responsible for performing a combination of maintenance duties under the direct supervision of a manager.

Salary

$17 hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Safely operate a truck and cargo trailer.

• Safely operate a mower, edger, chainsaw, pole saw, line trimmer, blower, small hand tools, etc.

• Collect trash, litter and illegal signs from utility poles, medians, right of ways and various other locations.

• Perform minor house painting and siding repair.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

• Six months of related experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

• Six months to one year experience in operating trucks or related equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of City safety procedures Knowledge of Safety methods and procedures used in equipment operation

• Knowledge of or experience grounds maintenance

• Skill in operating small maintenance equipment

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Ability to effective communicate both verbally and in writing

• Ability to prioritize and organize objectives

• Ability to work independently of the supervisor

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works typically in an outdoor environment and may be subjected to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, wetness, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting.
