The Position

To assist the Director to manage the Olin Hall Galleries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate shipping of exhibits with artists and/or art handling companies; receive and check incoming shipments
  • Art Handling; unpack and repack exhibits
  • Exhibitions: assist in installing and de-installing
  • Support director to prepare exhibit descriptions and background information on all exhibits. Materials will be used for press releases and for information sheets.
  • Maintain galleries website, social media and other PR resources
  • Support director with supervising the design and distribution of the publications promoting the exhibits.
  • Plan and co-host gallery receptions and workshops
  • Document all exhibitions with appropriate format for the permanent files
  • Maintain Permanent Collection Database
  • Supervise gallery assistants
  • Order gallery supplies and equipment when necessary
  • Maintain the gallery storage area, including tools and equipment
  • Continually monitor and coordinate the maintenance and renovations of the galleries
  • Create publications and other physical printed material to support programming and exhibitions
  • Photograph Artworks and Exhibitions for publication and artists' use
  • Create programming for workshops, virtual learning, and community projects
  • Build and maintain relationships with Artists, Galleries, and Nonprofits
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Clerical experience
  • Experience working at an art gallery
