ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Senior GIS Analyst, reporting to the GTD Business Engagement GIS Manager in The Woodlands, Texas, is responsible for creating, maintaining, and delivering operational GIS data, map products, reports, and solutions to multiple business units and departments.

The GIS Analyst supports land operations, business development, regulatory, and other departments reliant on land GIS data. Core duties involve the maintenance and digitization of land agreement spatial data, support maps, web maps, and GIS models within ArcGIS model builder and/or FME desktop.

The GIS Analyst employs automation and technical expertise to streamline workflows, dataflows, and solution delivery, as well as conducts spatial analysis to answer business questions and support decision making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain operational data within SDE databases
  • Produce and maintain ArcGIS Portal content supporting various departments or needs
  • Create ad-hoc mapping or report products from operational data for various departments or needs
  • Consult with business units to identify necessary changes or enhancements to ensure operational data meets business requirements
  • Serve as subject matter expert for operational GIS data within GTD
  • Continuously review operational data for quality and coverage
  • Identify potential efficiencies in workflows or dataflows to save time

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Geography, Geographic Information Science, or Computer Science desired
  • Geographic Information System certification preferred but not required

Experience and Critical Skills

  • 5 to 7 years of experience mapping spatial data from land survey descriptions such as metes and bounds or quarter calls, including less and excepts
  • Must have foundational understanding of geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS Pro
  • 5 to 7 years of experience maintaining data within SDE databases
  • At least 5 years of experience in the upstream oil & gas industry land function preferred
  • Solid knowledge of core GIS concepts like coordinate systems and transformations
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience with ArcGIS Pro
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server databases and SQL queries beneficial
  • Functional knowledge of upstream oil & gas business objectives, terminology, and data concepts
  • Experience with ArcGIS model builder and/or FME preferred
