About the Department
The Goodnight Scholars Program began in 2008 with 25 scholars. Since that time, it has grown from a partial scholarship into a comprehensive, full-ride scholarship program designed to develop scholars into leaders within the STEM and Education fields. The program currently serves up to 350 undergraduates. In 2025 the Program will expand again and formally separate into two programs, one for freshmen applicants and one for transfer applicants, under a single Goodnight Scholarships office. The enrollment across both programs will grow from 350 to 580.
The Goodnight Scholars Program team is responsible for the selection of freshmen scholars and management of their progress from enrollment and matriculation through graduation. This includes financial aid and scholarship requirements, participation, academic eligibility and program completion. The Goodnight Scholars Program team is also responsible for developing and offering a wide variety of program activities for the scholars, including annual retreats for freshmen and seniors, a first- and second-year seminar, multiple professional, service and social events each week, and fall and spring break trips. We also coordinate outreach activities with a variety of campus, K-12, nonprofit and industry partners.
