Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for structuring, and / or administrating contractual documents that establish business relationships with contractors, customers and / or partners. Collaborates with internal partners, colleagues as well as legal staff, as necessary, to structure contracts. Professional contracting services are provided in compliance with all UC policies and procedures, and California contracting law. Analyzes and revises contracts as appropriate to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies. Advises management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Three or more Years of Contracts Negotiations Experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of specific contracting assignments.
  • Team player with strong business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills; and ability to deal effectively with broad and diverse constituencies ensuring strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Strong organizational, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong listening and political acumen skills.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job and build good relationships across the Hospital's leadership and within a variety of business units.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, including identifying potential contractors, conducting the bidding process, drafting contract terms, and ensuring compliance with contract terms through contract completion.
  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of three years of experience in contract negotiations (UCIMC is willing to consider less direct experience for the right candidate with substantial relevant business background).

  • Advanced skills in successfully utilizing contract negotiation tactics to achieve financial results beneficial to UCI Medical Center.
  • Ability to skillfully and professionally represent UCI Medical Center in contract negotiations and convey contractual issues to a wide variety of medical center leadership, personnel, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to identify various business/legal issues and resolve accordingly between Privacy, Data Security, Risk, and Executive Leadership team.
  • Ability to draft, review, edit, negotiate various contract types and amendments, which comply with UC policies and risk tolerance.
  • Ability to be successful in a self-directed, self-motivated, fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of internal departmental / unit operating policies, applicable state and federal regulations and general contract terms.
  • Thorough knowledge of California contracting law.
  • Prefer Paralegal Certificate or J.D.
  • Deep and current knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, goals, mission, rules, policies, guidelines, etc.
