Covia is looking for an immediate 2nd Shift Operator for our plant in Thompson, OH (formerly R.W. Sidley).

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, following all safety regulations and safe work practices and assuring all equipment has been inspected and is in a safe working condition
  • Use various types of plants (crushers, screeners, dryers, conveyors, skid steers)
  • Potential to operate heavy equipment including loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, forklifts after one year of experience in the Operator role
  • Cleaning up tail pulleys with shovels or hoses, greasing plant, running skid steer to clean,
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems as they arise in the plant
  • General tasks in the bagging/production facility
  • Complete maintenance and housekeeping around the facility



The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of basic tools and their uses
  • Motivated, results oriented, and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work well with others, be respectful, and respond to supervisor instructions
  • Ability and willingness to work as many hours as necessary to accomplish duties.
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Forklift or Skid Steer experience a plus



Position Details



  • Hourly rate of $20-$26 depending on experience
  • 2nd shift hours are 1:00pm - 10:00pm from April through Thanksgiving
  • 2nd shift hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm from Thanksgiving through April
