The Staff Accountant (Internally known as Reinsurance Accountant) ensures that all daily tasks related to reinsurance accounting and reporting, particularly for Loss Portfolio Transfers (LPTs), are completed accurately and on time. This role involves preparing financial reports, reconciling LPT programs, maintaining accurate general ledger balances, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:



  • Prepare reports and journal entries for month-end closing related to LPT reporting.
  • Reconcile various LPT programs, including bank reconciliation, monthly claims entry, loss run reconciliation, and funding of escrow imprest accounts.
  • Maintain monthly balancing of general ledger reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for various LPT programs, supporting their establishment, maintenance, and closure.
  • Work closely with the claims and LPT departments to ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping.
  • Adhere to monthly, quarterly, and annual close schedules, ensuring deadlines for deliverables are met.
  • Provide support for other reinsurance-related functions as needed.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.


Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, or Accounting (a four-year degree in accounting is preferred).
  • Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.



Required Qualifications:



  • 1or more years of accounting experience.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and organized.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Experience in the reinsurance industry or related fields is a plus.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
