This role:

Simtra is seeking highly motivated undergraduate students for our Summer Internship Program. We look for diverse students with inquisitive minds and the desire to challenge themselves. Our interns work closely with industry professionals and learn quickly how to problem solve on real-world projects that contribute to clinical research and manufacturing processes. In addition to on-the-job experience, we offer learning sessions with top leadership, site visits to local projects and social events.

The CAPEX (Sustainability) Engineering team focuses on the planning, execution, and overseeing capital expenditure projects. They ensure that facility expansions, equipment installations, and infrastructure upgrades are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory (FDA, cGMP, etc.) standards.

The intern will assist in leading and managing facility expansion projects - including developing and maintaining project tracker, develop SOP changes, support construction quality activities, support turn-over package requirements, and support all validation activities (writing protocols). They will coordinate internal stakeholders and external contractors. The intern will also troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to project implementation.

Required qualifications:

• Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Biomedical, or Electrical)
• Completion of at least 3rd year of undergraduate studies
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail including the ability to accomplish a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all the areas involved
• Knowledge of capital project principles, process engineering, and equipment design
• Preferred experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
• Preferred experience with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera)
• Preferred experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others in a proactive, positive and constructive manner
• Proven critical thinking and creativity skills; solve problems by applying technical and functional experiences
• Highly motivated, self-driven individual with passion working within pharmaceutical industry
