Overview

CJE SeniorLife Tamarisk NorthShore has been welcoming older adults 65 and better since opening in August 2020. This exceptional independent senior living community (managed by CJE SeniorLife, a proud affiliate of Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago) boasts 240 elegant apartment residences. Residents enjoy top-notch service and a wide array of expansive amenities, making Tamarisk NorthShore a truly special place to call home.

Repairs and maintains machines and mechanical equipment within the building. Performs work in all fields which include minor plumbing, electrical, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems. Responds to work orders in a timely manner and produces quality results. Maintains accurate records and performs other related duties as required at the facility.

Compensation: $21.45 per hour.

Dues-paying membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 may be a condition of employment.

Shift

Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Follows prescribed procedures and services.
  • Operates and/or maintains facility heating, cooling, electric, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment with assistance from Mechanic II or Mechanic III.
  • Conducts building and equipment rounds taking temperatures, inspecting equipment, repairing equipment as needed, and notified department management if an outside contractor is needed; ensures the building is meeting safety standards, no exit lights are out, and there are no open ceiling tiles.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance throughout the building.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and daily log when completing tasks.
  • Makes minor repairs to building, mechanical equipment and grounds.
  • Cleans and maintains the grounds, waters plants, and performs landscaping following department management's directions.
  • Safely operates power tools using personal protective equipment.
  • Completes assigned work orders in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Uses necessary safety precautions for lock out tag out of equipment as directed by department management.
  • Uses fire prevention equipment and other safety precautions as needed.
  • Ensures the safety of residents, staff, and visitors by understanding, communicating, and complying with safety and security procedures.
  • Moves, disassembles, and assembles furniture as assigned.
  • Uses hand tools and other tools required for the job.
  • Performs low voltage electrical repairs including fixing vacuum cleaners and floor equipment.
  • Assembles equipment including new vacuum cleaners and other minor equipment.
  • Repairs door locks, hinges, wheelchairs, and other minor equipment.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related maintenance experience required.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Weekend availability required.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing and machinal systems.
  • Minor carpentry skills.
  • Experience with mechanical breakdowns and repairs faucets, toilets, and minor electrical equipment including resetting breakers.
