The Senior Systems Development Manager is responsible for application systems development activities. They review, coordinate, and schedule systems development project requests and related departmental activities.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  • Select, train, and supervise Applications Development staff on team including Project Manager(s), Business Analyst(s), and Application Developers.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports in a timely fashion and initiate merit and bonus administration.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled team and 1:1 meetings to ensure open and clear communication with direct reports.
  • Provide the guidance, support and continuing training necessary to ensure a highly qualified and capable technical staff.
  • Provide group related input to the annual budgeting cycle with supporting detail and justification.
  • Allocate team resources to support projects owned by team and projects owned by other teams based on the business priority.
  • Review project control information on a regular basis to ensure that projects are on schedule and on budget and implement corrective action(s) as need.
  • Facilitate the development of timely and well-designed solutions by promoting the selection, procurement and use of current and future/trending development tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure the enforcement of company standards including Applications Development lifecycle, coding standards, project reporting, resource management, and sound systems development practices and methodologies.
  • Review summary project control information on a regular basis to assure that projects are on schedule and institutes corrective action when required. Interface with management on a regular basis to establish project priorities and to resolve systems development issues.
  • Coordinates Information Systems functions with other areas including Computer Operations, Quality Assurance, Security, Information Technology, Auditing and User Management. Actively pursues improvements in system performance and efficiency outside of area of direct responsibility.
  • Ensure the development of timely and well-designed products by promoting the selection and use proper development tools.
  • This position has additional responsibilities. Special projects may be assigned at the position supervisor's discretion.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • Have a bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of Software Development experience in an Oracle and Java environment.
  • Have at least 5 years of management experience within the Applications Development and/or technology solution delivery space.
  • Have at least 8 years of broad-based experience in specific and related disciplines, including supply chain management.
  • Have knowledge of the state of the art in systems analysis, program analysis, and project management functions.


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Office Environment.
  • Hybrid.
  • Travel (15-30%).
