Job Summary: The Programmer Analyst III designs, develops, supports, and codes moderate- to high-complexity software and hardware systems to support the administrative function of the University under minimal supervision. This may include enterprise and highly critical applications. Develops processes and web applications. Creates workflows. Installs, customizes, supports, and creates integrations for vendor-supplied software systems. Works on a team and collaborates with specific departments, colleges, and customers around campus. Supports their needs, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and responding to their questions and concerns in a timely manner.

Additional Department Summary: Part of the Business Systems Administration team, which primarily supports and creates custom integrations, data feeds, and processes for the Transact Action Card system and the Ellucian Banner ERP for Finance, AR, and HR. The team develops processes and web applications using Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle APEX, creates workflows scheduled through AppWorx, and supports vendor-supplied software systems, including Ellucian Banner (Finance, AR, HR), Transact Transaction System Enterprise (TSE), Intellecheck, FormFusion, Concur, and PaymentWorks.

This team helps to support the following campus partners: Office of Finance (Financial Accounting, Procurement, Student Account Services, and Budget Office), Human Resources, and Enterprise Operations (Action Card and Bama Dining).

Primary and secondary support person for various applications and processes. Acts as a mentor and helps train lower-level team members. Technical lead on projects of low to moderate complexity.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and two (2) years of IT development and maintenance of software applications, relational database management systems, computer programming, web development, and/or system administration experience; OR bachelor's degree and four (4) years of IT development and maintenance of software applications, relational database management systems, computer programming, web development, and/or system administration experience; OR associate's degree and six (6) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of IT development and maintenance of software applications, relational database management systems, computer programming, web development, and/or system administration; OR High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of IT development and maintenance of software applications, relational database management systems, computer programming, web development, and/or system administration.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to work with customer groups and users of varying degrees of technical ability and understanding. Ability to manage work tasks using Atlassian JIRA tickets and follow through to completion. Effective time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Troubleshooting skills to independently learn of, analyze, track, and resolve issues. Ability to implement departmental and critical third party applications, analyzing installation and configuration documentation, to successfully install and take on support for an application. Strong attention to detail for support of applications involving financial transactions or critical application data.

Preferred Qualifications: High level of experience supporting or working with higher education and University of Alabama administrative applications and tools, such as Ellucian Banner, Workday, Oracle Cloud ERP, Transact Campus TSE, AppWorx, JIRA, TOAD, GIT and Oracle APEX. Base knowledge of managing Windows Server applications, including IIS management and configuration and a base knowledge of Linux commands. Knowledge of web development concepts, including experience with HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, Javascript, MVC concepts, and web accessibility. High level of experience with relational databases and ability writing and analyzing SQL queries and reports, preferably with Oracle, MS SQL, or MySQL. Ability to analyze table data structures and patterns in the data to gain insights. High level of experience with the creation and management of database objects including tables, triggers, indexes, and procedures and processes, including SSIS. Experience with other programming concepts and tools including restful APIs, shell, Powershell, and Python scripting, Git versioning, and managing flat file data feeds. Experience or familiarity with enterprise integration platforms, such as Informatica, Boomi, Mulesoft, or Azure Integration Services. High experience supporting moderately complex systems and troubleshooting application issues. Substantial level of programming knowledge and ability, ideally with Oracle PL/SQL. High level of experience with working with customers, gathering and analyzing requirements. Substantial level of programming knowledge and ability, with languages such as Oracle PL/SQL, C#, or PHP. High level of ERP support experience.
