The Office of Access & Equity provides leadership to the University's efforts to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Office of Access & Equity (Disability Resources & Equal Opportunity). This position will act as the primary triage point for all EO in-person and telephone communications. This employee will be instrumental in answering questions relative to University policy and office procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Providing primary office management functions for office staff
  • Updating/maintaining the office's website
  • Assisting with the design and production of all office materials, including brochures and display boards.
  • Assisting with a range of compliance-related administrative tasks.

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
Communication - Verbal: Main point of contact for EO clients. Will be responsible for assisting individuals related to office procedures. Will assist with office presentations. Interprets guidelines, answers inquiries and advises others regarding processes, services, and operations as applied to pertinent situations. Schedules and coordinates appointments, meetings and events. Serves as the main contact person for the department and assists with all inquiries. Ability to advise and consult with clients to ensure accuracy of the communication and understanding of the message.
Communication - Written: Will manage EO general email and be responsible for professional, clear communications. May assist in investigatory administrative support such as collecting evidence or reviewing and editing transcripts of client interviews. Process documents for the department following office procedures. Composes and organizes ideas logically, works in multiple formats such as letters, memos, reports, and can change/adjust style to meet the program's needs. Ability to advise and consult with clients to ensure the accuracy of the communication and understanding of the message as the administrative assistant serves as the main point of contact for initial inquiries.
Knowledge - Program: Answering questions about procedures and how to report a concern of prohibited conduct; need to know general information about the office; maintaining the office budget, creating travel documents, work orders, etc. Coordinates a variety of electronic document processing activities requiring the application and interpretation of procedures, policies, laws, and regulations. Reviews information for completeness and accuracy using multiple guidelines. Follows guidelines set by the office in conjunction with App State policies and procedures. Requires knowledge of organizational structure, functions, services, programs, office procedures, and practices.
Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
