The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of workers engaged in the manufacturing and packing of bread products. This role involves coordinating production schedules with the Materials Management department, ensuring line efficiency, and managing downtime and waste reporting. You will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and quality assurance teams to address issues, verify product specifications, and implement improvements in production methods. Additionally, you will train staff, ensure compliance with product quality standards, and drive process enhancements to optimize overall performance.

Responsibilities:



  • Coordinates and plans weekly production schedule in conjunction with the Materials Management department based on master scheduling and inventory policies set for each Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).
  • Interfaces with others in the organization and colleagues to ensure customer deadlines are met, by overseeing line activities such as clean downs and changeovers, starter room production and line efficiency.
  • Manages downtime and waste reporting accuracy and documents accordingly.
  • Works cross functionally with maintenance and engineering to resolve issues.
  • In conjunction with quality assurance staff, inspects and measures products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Trains employees to identify products that do not meet specifications and ensure they are not shipped.
  • Directs employees in adjusting machines, equipment and work processes to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Observe machine operators to ensure quality and conformity of raw dough and finished products are within specifications
  • Ensure standards are met related to process flow, speed and temperatures, and any critical run data settings
  • Develops, recommends and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to improve production methods, equipment performance and efficiency, employee performance and product quality.
  • Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost and cycle times.
  • Other duties may be assigned.



Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three years of related bakery or food manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years of experience working at a bakery operation is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as production schedules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or colleagues in an organization.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software, Excel spreadsheet software and Outlook email software. Knowledge of inventory control and manufacturing software helpful.



Shift: 2nd shift 2:00pm-1030pm or 3rd shift 10pm-630am
