Summary Working Lead Technician; Responsible for overseeing, performing and coordinating all assigned work for the production division maintenance team. Also, responsible for prioritizing work orders, overseeing repairs, facilitating annual outages and routine work orders and providing operational support as needed or assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead the maintenance of gas-fired boilers, steam turbines, auxiliary equipment, and balance of plant systems. Provide leadership and oversight for maintenance craftsperson and contractors in responsible area. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor job performance. Lead mechanical maintenance work on plant equipment including, but not limited to, coupling replacements, pump to motor alignments, valve packing, bolt torquing, piping/line disassembly, gear box disassembly, valve rebuilds. Lead the effort to clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment such as generators, turbines, pumps, and compressors to prevent equipment failure or deterioration. Prioritize work requests/ work orders in the CMMS; adhere to plant-wide planning process; expedite unit operations requests and unit maintenance requests. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for major breakdowns and implement corrective actions. Test and inspect equipment, pumps, turbines, valves, high-voltage generators, motors, actuator equipment, turbine controls, station auxiliaries, lights and control measuring devices. Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and evaluate the work of maintenance technicians for the Production Division. Confer and coordinate work with teams, departments, divisions, contractors, advisory bodies and utilities to meet objectives and operational plans. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in the production of generating electrical power. Conduct effective walk downs of plant areas and equipment to proactively identify safety and unit reliability opportunities. Maintain cleanliness of all plant areas, adhere to the plant-wide safety culture and the target-zero accident initiative Perform monthly safety inspections at Garland Power and Light plants and review production safety policies to assure current compliance with industry standards. Provide backup/support to supervision / administration as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) 5+ years in power plant maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Ability to answer a phone 24-7 (on-call & overtime)
Or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience:
6 months to 1 years advanced study or training in Mechanical Boiler Pipe & Tube Installation, Pipe Fabrication, Cutting, Welding 7 years' experience in Power Generation Mechanical Maintenance Prior supervisory experience
