What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is seeking a motivated Staff-Level Engineer to join our Naperville, IL office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that positively impact the environment while building a strong foundation for your career. As part of our team, you will gain hands-on experience in both field and office work, collaborating with experienced professionals who are dedicated to mentoring and guiding your development. Our Naperville office focuses on waste diversion and waste management. We strive to identify innovative ways to repurpose materials and keep them out of landfills whenever possible. At the same time, we are committed to providing safe and environmentally responsible waste management and disposal solutions. You may be hybrid in our Naperville office.



How you can make an impact

You will play a vital role in our mission to improve the natural environment by helping us grow our practice in the environmental compliance and waste diversion/waste management fields. Expect to be involved in the design, permitting, and construction oversight activities for compost facilities, landfills, and other infrastructure projects.

As part of our team, you will:

    Promote safety by working responsibly and fostering a safe environment for others.
  • Take ownership of your professional growth while contributing to the success of SCS Engineers.

Field Work Responsibilities:

  • Perform environmental sampling, monitoring, and data collection.
  • Support construction observation and documentation to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.
  • Collect and manage construction material samples and survey data.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Office Work Responsibilities:

  • Develop environmental compliance reports and regulatory documents.
  • Evaluate how various end-use materials and wastes are managed throughout the State.
  • Collaborate on the design and permitting of waste diversion and waste management facilities, such as compost facilities, landfills, and transfer stations.
  • Assist in calculations and technical designs for waste management and remediation projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, laboratories, and regulators.
  • Create or review CAD drawings (AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience a plus).
  • Research technical data and regulatory standards to support project needs.
  • Write proposals, bid documents, and health & safety plans.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Geological Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience required
  • Certification: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus but not required.
  • Skills: Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or surveying software is a bonus.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.


Pay Range

USD $72,500.00 - USD $108,000.00 /Yr.
