JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: TheMcGraw Research LaboratoryinPenn State'sDepartments ofBiologyandEntomologyseeks aResearch Technologist- Life Sciences Intermediate Professional to support research in mosquitoes and work with viruses. The successful candidate will (1) maintain lab supplies and equipment (2) manage and oversee mosquito colonies (3) contribute to research projects (4) assist in training staff and students. Most work will be carried out in an insectary facility, and some work will be carried out in a separate molecular lab. Occasional weekend/holiday work will be required in exchange for time off during the week. Education and Experience: Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree plus one year of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in at least one of the following fields: Insect husbandry, animal or plant is desirable. Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational, communication and documentation skills are essential. The successful candidate must be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences. This is term appointment with excellent possibility of re-funding.
