Top Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- 2 years CVOR experience.
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist Education Program, or three (3) years of Surgical Technologist experience within the past five (5) years.
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification.
Job Responsibilities:
- Check daily assignments.
- Review surgical preference lists to clarify surgical routine and update preference lists as needed.
- Utilize resources to obtain needed supplies for the case.
- Ensure table(s) are completely ready for each procedure, confirming all items needed for the case are present.
- Obtain physician's special instruments and sutures prior to the start of the case.
- Demonstrate knowledge and dexterity in handling special supplies and equipment, ensuring their proper functioning.
- Possess knowledge of the specifics of the surgical procedure and perform tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
- Under the surgeon's supervision, assist with suctioning secretions, holding retractors, assisting with skin closure, cutting sutures, and irrigating wounds.
- Circulate for operative procedures under the supervision of an R.N.
- Assist with site care at the end of the procedure.
- Cleanse the operative site and connect drainage tubes to appropriate devices.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Experience interacting with physicians, families, and other hospital personnel related to the care of assigned patients.
- Sound judgment and knowledge of scientific principles.
- Competency in selected skills required through hospital-provided instruction.
- Ability to maintain composure and respond swiftly and effectively to patient needs in stressful situations.
- Ability to provide age and culturally specific patient care and education.
- Effective communication with peers, utilizing appropriate channels and maintaining absolute confidentiality.
- Demonstrated competence and evidence of continuing professional growth.
- Ability to accept and implement change and work in a culturally diverse setting.
- Responsible for the knowledge, use, care, and handling of surgical instruments.
Schedule Notes:
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12s M-W 6:15AM-6:45PM; one 1st call per week (end of shift to 2300), weekend call every 5-6 weekends, week of overnight call after the weekend call, transplant call. Required: 2 years CVOR experience
