Senior Applications Engineer w/Poly

BigBear.ai is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to design, develop, and support high-value applications for multiple teams. In this role, you will ensure seamless performance, security, and scalability of applications while contributing to mission-critical projects. You will also lead and mentor team members, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

• Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses, and manage their implementation.
• Oversee software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques, including Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
• Estimate software development costs and schedules to ensure timely delivery.
• Review existing programs and recommend refinements to improve performance, reduce operating time, and enhance techniques.
• Formulate and define specifications for new software applications or modify and maintain existing applications using engineering releases and utilities.
• Lead program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation efforts.
• Provide guidance, direction, and quality assurance reviews for other team members.
• Evaluate existing and new software products to ensure quality and alignment with mission objectives.

• Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of experience.
  • Associate's Degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Master's Degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Doctorate's Degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph (required).
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes.
  • Expertise in creating, managing, and deploying container technologies.

• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Proficiency in Linux environments (CentOS 7, Red Hat 8).
• Familiarity with frameworks and databases such as Flask, Django, MariaDB, and MongoDB.
• Experience with tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Knowledge of technologies such as NiFi, Angular, and Terraform.
• Expertise in container orchestration and deployment tools, including Kubernetes and Docker.
• Familiarity with JSON, Ansible, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with big data tools such as PIG and PySpark.
