Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Proteomics, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field. Two (2) years of full time experience with advanced research related/ laboratory activities. Experience with western blotting and/or mammalian cell culture.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Proteomics, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field. Hands-on experience with proteomics sample preparation and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Proficient in western blotting analysis and the enrichment of post-translational modified proteins or peptides. Experience with proteomics data analysis.
Brief Description of Duties: The Senior Research Support Specialist will provide a broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks. Working under general supervision in support of a research project or program for Dr. Wei Yang in the Department of Pathology and Cancer Center, incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Based in the modern Medical and Research Translation (MART) Building, the Yang lab features top-tier instruments and a collaborative, cutting-edge research space. Duties:
- Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data.
- Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance the goals of the project.
- Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
- Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operation of the program.
- Prepare reports, drafts and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.
- Supervisory responsibilities: Incumbents may be responsible for orienting/training others to the project/ program and checking work of less experienced employees as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
