Direct And Supervise All Department Activities. Provides Leadership, Support And Resources. Ensures Department Complies With Appropriate Tjc+Dph Regulations And Guidelines. Responsible For Hiring Qualified Staff, Ensure Appropriate Training Is Provided, And Evaluates Staff Annually. Responsible For Ensuring Quality Patient Care Services Are Provided In The Departments Of Cardiology Stress Testing, Cardiac Cath Lab And Radiology Nursing At Both L+M And Westerly Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Responsible For The Overall Operation Of The Department. (Cardiology Services, Cardiac Cathlab, Radiology Nursing)
  • 2. Establish Departmental Goals And Objectives.
  • 3. Responsible For Initial And Ongoing Assessment Of Patient Care Needs Through Patient Care Rounds And Communication With Physicians And Members Of The Interdisciplinary Team To Meet Identified Needs.
  • 4. Establish And Monitor Departmental Budgets. Analyzes Trends And Must Be Able To Explain Variance And Make Appropriate Adjustments.
  • 5. Works With Cardiologists And Case Manager To Facilitate Patients' Progression Through The Continuum Of Care And Provides Appropriate Interventions
  • 6. Provides Accurate And Consistent Interpretation And Application Of Human Resource Policies And Any Appropriate Union Contracts.
  • 7. Ensures All Safety Procedures/ Or Procedures Are Followed.
  • 8. Schedules Staff To Maintain Optimum Staffing, Patient Safety And Within Budgetary Guidelines.
  • 9. Provides Coaching, Counseling And Formal Discipline, When Appropriate, To Staff.
  • 10. Ensures Efficient Workflow In Areas.
  • 11. Coordinates The Orientation Of Staff With Preceptors And Ensure Staff Competencies.
  • 12. Analyzes Problems In A Systematic, Logical And Timely Manner. Identifies And Implements Effective And Innovation Solutions.
  • 13. Demonstrates Understanding Of And Support For Lean Process Improvement Efforts.
  • 14. Must Complete 95% Of Annual Performance Reviews On Time (Within 30 Days Of Due Date).
  • 15. Consistently Manage All Activities So That Quality Services Are Provided In An Efficient And Cost Effective Manner.
  • 16. Maintain A Working Knowledge Of All Necessary State And Federal Regulations Regarding The Nursing Care.
  • 17. Demonstrates Clinical Competence And The Ability To Provide Direct Patient Care In Order To Assist As Needed On The Unit.
  • 18. Ensure That Safety Procedures Are Followed.
  • 19. Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.
  • 20. Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department/Unit.
  • 21. Knowledgeable In Cardiac And Hemodynamic Monitoring, Stress Testing, Cardiac Rhythm Identification And Invasive Cardiac And Peripheral Procedures...
  • 22. Acts As Consultant For Radiology Nursing Issues At Both Hospitals.
  • 23. Demonstrates Clinical Competencies In The Provision Of Care To The Expected Patient Population For The Department.
  • 24. Demonstrates Understanding And Knowledge In Aseptic Technique And Or Procedural Standards.
  • 25. Conducts Outpatient And Community Presentations On Cardiac Health.
  • 26. Demonstrates Knowledge/Skill In Operation Of Stress Testing Equipment And Protocols.
  • 27. Maintains Cardiology/Cathlab Policies And Procedures As Current As Specified In Respective Policy.
  • 28. Maintain Acls And Bcls Certification
  • 29. Maintains Certification In Moderate Sedation According To L+M Standards.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Required Or In Progress. Master's Degree In Nursing Preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Must Have (5) Years Of Experience In An Acute Care Setting. Prior Cath Lab Experience Preferred. With A Sound Understanding Of Nursing Practices In The Area Of Supervision. Demonstration Of Potential For Management And Leadership By Previous Experience And Education. Knowledge Of Cardiac Care Required.

LICENSURE

Current Connecticut Registered Nurse License. Excellent Organizational And Communication. Must Have Ability To Prioritize, Multi Task And Deal With Conflict In A Professional Manner.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Demonstrates Effective Leadership Skills. ACLS + BLS Is Required, CNML Within 2 Years. Microsoft Office Experience. Completion Of Cardiac Arrhythmia Course Required.
