The Position

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist to focus on formulation development within the Genentech Pharmaceutical Development (PharmDev) Department. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to engage in innovative process development, formulation, and analytical method optimization while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Your contributions will be crucial in delivering novel medicines that meet the critical needs of patients through efficiency, innovation, and collaboration.

The position requires a strong interest in formulation development, analytical development, development of drug products, as well as a deep commitment to working as part of teams to deliver best in class therapies.

The Opportunity:

This role is based on-site at our campus in South San Francisco.

The successful candidate will work with dynamic and highly motivated teams to develop formulations for large molecules in our portfolio that treat unmet medical needs.

  • You are working in a formulation research and development lab and collaborating with department colleagues. This position requires effective participation in a team environment.
  • Your responsibilities include setting-up and executing formulation studies, e.g. stability studies, device compatibility studies and sample analytics. You apply engineering/scientific/GMP theories, principles & techniques to solve problems.
  • This role requires knowledge of protein chemistry and analytical methods such as Spectrophotometry, pH, Chromatography (HPLC, UPLC) , CE, (etc.) You are applying analytical skills and judgment in assessing the quality of assay data and assay performance.
  • Presentation in team/department meetings is part of this role

Who You Are

  • You hold a B.S., B.A. or M.S in physical science, engineering, life science or related disciplines (chemical and biochemical engineering, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, microbiology, biology)
  • You bring at least 1-3 years of relevant working experience in healthcare, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry
  • You have a basic understanding of protein purification and stability
  • You are experienced in performing lab experiments and lab maintenance activities.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is 68,500.00 -127,300.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
