Wieland is hiring a Production Shift Supervisor. The Production Shift Supervisor directly supervises shift production personnel in the machine shop. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include operating machines when required, executing operational plans, assigning and directing the work; addressing and resolving problems and complaints, training, motivating and providing feedback to the employees; conducting performance reviews and disciplining employees. This role is located in Lake Zurich, IL and will be fully on-site.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

    Promotes a safe environment
  • Oversees the daily activities required to process the current production jobs, promoting and ensuring a safe environment throughout the process
  • Maintains and contributes to shop floor cleanliness and organization
  • Reviews and executes the daily production schedule with the Scheduler
  • Assists in the coordination of workflow to ensure optimal use of resources with the lowest labor cost
  • Monitors the hour by hour boards to ensure production rates are achieved, maintained and follows up to resolve issues, involving engineering or maintenance, if required
  • Supervises the employees responsible for meeting acceptable efficiency, quality, and production levels providing continuous coaching
  • Processes work in regards to deadlines, quality control and production control by leveraging employees and determining training gaps
  • Use Vantage as a tool for job/inventory adjustments, inventory location and inventory inquiries
  • Reviews defective products and educates team to promote awareness of defectives and encourage zero defects
  • Provides feedback to management regarding issues or problems on a job, prior to the deadline
  • Encourages employee development through review and execution of training and development; promoting the tuition reimbursement program
  • Complete performance reviews in a timely manner
  • Must be a leader embracing the modeling the company's Core Values
  • Communicates with other leaders on all activities that are taking place pertaining to jobs, ensuring continuity of processes and work
  • Promotes a positive team environment and develop cross functional team to support MBP
  • Suggests process improvements and is a change agent, following through when change is necessary
  • Interview new candidates
  • Enforce Company policies and procedures
  • Reward and recognize individual efforts
  • Calculate/review/communicates Production metrics
  • Support Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Participate in problem solving/correction actions/error proofing
  • Promotes the use of statistical process control
  • Maintain skill matrix for employee development and advancement

Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Proper measuring techniques with a variety of gages
  • Basic forklift safety
  • Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • CNC Lathes & product processing experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior manufacturing experience in a job shop required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supervisory role
  • NIMS certificate preferred
