Job Description

Primary purpose of this role to is audit and evaluate the workplace environment, programs, equipment, and processes to ensure that they follow safety regulations and align with the direction of the organization toward "Zero Harm". This role will involve educating and guiding the production teams into a continuous growth safety culture that is proactive in hazard elimination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines

* Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety

* Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law

* Prepare and deliver training presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.

* Conduct, document, and report out on routine EHS auditing of site.

* Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations

* Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims

* Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

* Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.

* Oversee the Contractor Safety Program.

* Provide SME safety support of the sites continued growth of the Safety Culture through departmental engagement.

* Lead the monitoring of the Behavior Based Safety Program

* Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional Safety knowledge, skill and abilities.

* Apply knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features and controls, compensating for the possibility of human errors in the operation of machinery and equipment.

* Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure they meet safety requirements

* Design, review, and evaluate modified equipment

* Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment

* Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill and abilities.

* Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure they meet safety requirements

* Design, review, and evaluate modified equipment

* Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment

* Install safety devices on machinery or direct the installation of these devices

* Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes

* Recognize, evaluate, and control the effects of chemical and physical agents related to the manufacturing process in order to keep employees from becoming sick or injured.

* Advise ways of controlling potential threats to the safety of employees

Qualifications

Education:



  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred



Requirements:



  • At least 4 to 8 years of experience in a Safety professional role
  • Be able to work non-routine hours as needed to conduct audits across shifts.
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Valid qualifications in occupational health and safety

    • OTI certifications and/or EHS credentials preferred (MESH, COSS, OHST, GSP, ASP, CSP, etc.)
