Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Project Manager to join our team and help lead this service area into the future. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sustainability Project Manager who will foster our mission that All People Should Live in Safe, Sustainable, and Beautiful Communities. This role involves managing programs for public and private sector clients, focusing on project planning, budgeting, and performance evaluation. Candidates should have 8 or more years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree, with a preference for individuals certified in PMP, LEED or another similar program. Proficiency in data analytics and excellent communication skills are essential.

While the preference is for this person to be located in the Twin Cities Metro region, the right person may serve from any of our office locations. This role is crucial in advancing our company's sustainability goals and supporting our clients in achieving theirs.

What You Will Be Doing:


  • Responsible for business development and service area growth where you will:

    • Lead sustainability initiatives, focusing on internal strategic planning and external development and implementation projects
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in community resilience
    • Develop and enhance relationships with clients and stakeholders
    • Prepare proposals and presentations for potential projects




  • Grow community resilience planning and implementation projects where you will:

    • Lead community resilience planning efforts that lead to implementation projects
    • Collaborate with local governments and organizations to develop resilience strategies
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation measures
    • Collaborate with project partners and agencies to advance planning and implementation projects
    • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets
    • Manage sustainability projects from inception to completion and ensure they meet clients' goals




  • Advance internal coordination and build communication strategies where you will:

    • Coordinate sustainability efforts across various divisions and work groups
    • Facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve sustainability objectives
    • Lead initiatives to enhance the company's sustainability performance
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations and standards
    • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement sustainability strategies
    • Provide expert advice on community and industry best practices
    • Conduct sustainability assessments and audits for clients
    • Communicate sustainability initiatives and progress to internal and external stakeholders
    • Engage with community partners and industry groups on sustainability issues




  • Supervises and coaches direct reports and mentors other team members


What We Are Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in sustainability project management
  • Strong knowledge of community resiliency planning and sustainability practices
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills
  • Certification in sustainability or project management (e.g., LEED, PMP) is a plus
  • Passionate about sustainability and environmental stewardship
  • Proactive and results-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think strategically and drive innovative solutions
  • Effective time management, organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships


    Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000 depending on years of experience and credentials.

    Bolton & Menk is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and specific geographic location. Bolton & Menk reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
