Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer who can play a key role in the development of our battery module electronics and control systems. This individual will be part of a rapidly growing team responsible for PCBA design, component selection, and will be collaborating with functional safety, and design validation testing teams. Ideally, the electrical engineer should have exposure to a range of technical challenges and methods in the context of product development, including analog design, embedded electronics design, high-voltage high-current electronics design, EMC compliance, and root cause failure analysis. Cross-team collaboration throughout the product development organization is a critical part of this role, so systems-level thinking and multidisciplinary engineering problem-solving are key traits of a successful candidate.

What you'll do:
  • Contribute to the design and testing of electrical circuits, PCBs, and systems.

  • Support senior engineers in the development of schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer).

  • Assist in the simulation, and analysis of analog circuits, including but not limited to amplifiers, filters, voltage references, data converters, and high-current, high-power management circuits utilizing industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., LTSpice, PSpice).

  • Contribute to the development of test plans and procedures for analog and digital systems.

  • Perform hands-on testing, debugging, and characterization of analog and digital circuits using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, and power supplies.

  • Create, review and maintain parts libraries under Altium Designer

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate new designs into larger systems.

  • Document design processes, simulation results, test data, and performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input.

  • Support troubleshooting efforts for existing designs and systems to identify and resolve performance issues.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mixed signal design.

What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of professional experience, or Masters degree and 3+ years

  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles, and components' characteristics, including circuit analysis, analog and digital electronics' models selection

  • Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., Altium Designer)

  • Basic understanding of microcontroller programming, (e.g., Arduino, C/C++) is desirable.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.).
