The Opportunity
Shape the future of digital scholarship at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries as our new Digital Exploration Center Librarian. This full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position at the Assistant Librarian rank offers an opportunity to coordinate innovative digital scholarship projects in collaboration with emerging and established scholars in the Libraries and across campus.

In this new role, you will coordinate a wide range of cutting-edge research initiatives, from data visualization and geospatial mapping to digital storytelling and humanities projects. You will coordinate with other colleagues and will offer consultations, workshops, and a variety of scholarly events. As a leader, you will be instrumental in launching and shaping the Libraries' new Digital Exploration Center (DEC), opening in early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will feature an immersive visualization lab, extended reality (XR) technologies, an adjustable classroom, podcast and production studios, and flexible collaboration spaces. The DEC represents our commitment to advancing research and fostering cross-disciplinary innovation at UCF.

As part of our new Digital Scholarship department, you will join a forward-thinking team dedicated to supporting researchers across all disciplines and career stages. You will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty across campus on digital projects and work with students to create compelling digital exhibitions that bring collections to life. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of digital scholarship at UCF and bolster campus partnerships while supporting UCF's dynamic research community.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership


  • Direct the DEC's daily operations, including staff supervision.

  • Monitor, assess, and implement emerging digital scholarship trends to maintain innovative service offerings.


Technology Infrastructure & Resources


  • Oversee the deployment and maintenance of technological assets.

  • Collaborate with the Libraries' technology staff to support infrastructure.


Educational Programming & Consultation


  • Lead digital scholarship education through consultations and workshops.

  • Provide guidance on digital scholarship methodologies and tools.


Campus Engagement


  • Build and maintain partnerships across campus.

  • Promote integration of DEC resources into research and teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in library and/or information science from an accredited institution at time of hire; or doctorate combined with academic library experience at time of hire.

  • Familiarity with digital scholarship methodologies, tools, and related technologies.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience managing projects.

  • Experience providing instruction or training in technical topics.

  • Experience working in a computer lab, digital scholarship center, or similar facility.

  • Familiarity with XR technologies, GIS, or A/V production and post-production technologies and software.
