As a Stemi and Registray Cordinator, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of a comprehensive STEMI program that complies with national standards for quality of care for STEMI patients as dictated by the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Society of Chest Pain Centers and governmental regulation for Medicare compliance across PDS. Manage our national cardiovascular data registries and ensure the quality of data input and abstracted is accurate and complete. Ensure physician and staff compliance to data and quality metrics. Enter patients into databases for our various cardiovascular accreditations (heart failure center, chest pain center, Mission: Lifeline, cardiac electrophysiology, and Get-With-The-Guidelines-HF).

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • RN or RCIS
  • Five years Hospital Experience required


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required: (degree in Healthcare related field preferred); 6 years of additional experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5 years Hospital Experience required: clinical experience or quality improvement a plus.
  • Process improvement experience and Greenbelt preferred
  • Experience in clinical documentation requirements for American college of cardiology, Society of thoracic Surgeons and other Heart and Vascular accrediting bodies as well as CMS and Joint commission requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Serves as lead of abstracting team for registry and regulatory data compliance to include business coordinator and heart data abstractors.
  • Develops, evaluates, and maintains a STEMI program that meets and exceeds the recommendations of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association.
  • Assumes responsibility for the ongoing program management for STEMI across the continuum from the EMS and hospital entry through discharge and Serves as a clinical expert and resource to provide patient care services personnel and other health care professionals within the hospital, throughout the continuum, and in the community.
  • Facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to attaining the data and regulatory requirements of CMS, ACC, STS, SVS and other governing bodies.
  • Identifies the root cause analysis of audit findings and submits recommendations for appropriate change management.
  • Participates in identifying needs, planning and implementing educational programs within specialty area for patients, families, community groups, and other designated STEMI transfer health care facilities.
  • Audits internal departments medical records and data to identify improvement opportunities for compliance of regulatory and accreditation data requirements.
  • Performs, facilitates and provides structure to ensure evidence based quality improvement activities are being implemented in the cardiovascular program.
  • Partners with PMG, Hospital leaders and Providers to ensure Registry Outcomes are maximized through strategic utilization of registry data. These disease states will include AMI, CABG, HF, PCI and STEMI Care.
  • Lead teams through best-demonstrated practice and evidence-based medicine identified through professional organizations.
  • Serves as a project manager for improvement
  • Coordinates the concurrent collection, interpretation, analysis and reporting of clinical cardiovascular data to ensure compliance with accrediting bodies
  • Identifies and validates the accuracy of service line(s)' data collected. Analyzes and compares results against regional and national benchmarks. Prepares reports and presents findings to care team, councils and committees as appropriate. *Complete audits as requested.
  • Provide Education to physicians, Leaders and staff regarding registry and outcomes documentation requirements.
  • Oversight of Quality plan and assigned process improvement initiatives and corrective action reporting.
  • Perform regular audits of data and abstractor contractors and internal staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
