The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

The Developmental Medicine Clinical Research Laboratories (DM-CRL) works to conduct and foster clinical research to improve the lives of children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders. The DM-CRL accomplish this mission through studies aimed at developing new and innovative approaches to diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, with the ultimate goal of improved long-term outcomes and quality of life.

The intern will work in our office environment aand in the DDM clinic. There is opportunity to interact with and/or shadow clinicians, investigators, and research coordinators.

What you'll do

  • Centralized Recruitment Assistance: work with the CRL Recruitment Navigator to contact all patient families seen in clinic about any research projects in the CRL that they may be eligible for, with the goal of allowing all patient families more equitable access to research opportunities.
  • Recruitment Improvement: work with staff to track and implement changes to Centralized Recruitment process; improve the quality and usability of REDCap database used for tracking; help implement, collect, analyze, and summarize data related to Centralized Recruitment; develop externally-facing materials including layperson-readable summaries of research, flyers and advertisement materials.
  • Clinical Research Coordination Support: additional opportunities to assist with other clinical research projects ongoing in Developmental Medicine, including longitudinal and interventional research studies and other projects. Opportunities may include working with data collection, publications, or observe and interact with families during research visits.
  • This role is fully on-site at 2 Brookline Place

The student will also gain hands-on experience with clinical research methods and participate in relevant meetings about operations and strategy. *Note that the specific experience can be tailored to student's interest and competencies.

What you'll get

By the end of the experience, the intern will gain an understanding of pediatric research operations and the administrative and strategic elements of making research work. They will also improve comfort and effectiveness interacting with children and families. Other skills include organization, verbal and written communication skills, time management, and comfort with software used in the research process (e.g. REDCap and EPIC).

  • You are capable in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • You are detail oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic about working with people
  • You can communicate and work with a team

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.
  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.
  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.
  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
