Job Description

The Sanitation Operator qualified applicant will be responsible for keeping working areas in the production department in a clean and orderly condition. This operation is to be performed keeping safety as a primary objective and following established GMP, Safety, Regulatory and Stratas Foods procedures and policies.

Responsible for:

  • Protect, cover, or remove boxes, material, or other industrial equipment that may be affected by the sanitation process.
  • Collect and properly dispose of major dirt and /or product left over on production department floors or pans.
  • Clean / prewash heavy oil, grease, and visible dirt from machines, overhead pipes, and conveyors.
  • Wash walls and ceiling.
  • Transport trash and waste to proper disposal area.
  • Start pump to force cleaning solution through production machinery, piping or vats.
  • Clean, sanitize, disassemble and assemble equipment according to company procedures.
  • Clean processing equipment, overhead pipes, and conveyors.
  • Scrub processing tanks, vats, and kettles.
  • Clean floors with mop and/or use electrical scrubber.
  • Operate industrial truck to transport materials within plant.
  • Clean and change screens and filters.
  • Must be trained and certified to use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA guidelines.
  • Complete all required documentation for procedures performed.
Qualifications
  • Experience reading and understanding MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheets)
  • High School diploma or equivalent; and up to 6 months experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short memos
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Additional Information

Physical:

Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with management and co-workers is critical. Regular use of a variety of measuring tools, a telephone, and e-mail for communication is essential. Standing or sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information. Heavy lifting is required intermittently. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines or measuring tools is required.

Requires heavy work, including continuous strenuous activities which require fine manual dexterity or coordination. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers; reach; stretch; bend; kneel; crouch; and use all senses.

This position regularly requires the lifting and/or moving of up to 75 lbs.

Specific vision requirements must be met for this position: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Sensory:Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task.
