Encova Insurance has an immediate opening for a DevOps IV Engineer. This role will have the option to be remote but should reside within a two hour drive to our corporate office in Columbus, Ohio for in-person work as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Resolve complex issues across the DevOps and Release Management stack, providing strategic guidance and mentorship to teams, ensuring swift recovery and minimizing downtime.
  • Design and Implement Cloud Infrastructure Solutions * Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and costeffective cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Champion the adoption of containerization solutions using tools like Docker and Kubernetes for application scalability and portability.
  • Develop and deploy infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
  • Guide teams across the enterprise in developing and applying best practices for deploying infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and efficient resource management.
  • Automate Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Pipelines
  • Architect and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment across environments.
  • Integrate GitLab, Nexus, Jenkins, Wiz or similar tools for automation of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Optimize pipeline performance and reduce manual interventions to achieve faster and more reliable releases.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization * Implement cloud monitoring and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party monitoring tools.
  • Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource allocation for cost and efficiency.
  • Guide teams in applying best practices for performance tuning in cloud environments

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide thought leadership in DevOps practices, driving innovation through proof-of-concept initiatives, and mentoring cross-functional teams to ensure the adoption of best practices, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Spearhead proof-of-concept initiatives, exploring and validating new technologies and methodologies to drive operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Mentor other DevOps engineers, providing guidance on technical best practices and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine development processes, incorporating feedback and insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Assist in defining long-term strategic roadmap for DevOps initiatives and lead the development of innovative solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Provide afterhours support as scheduled and/or as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree required, preferred bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems.
  • 7+ years of Information Technology experience, including DevOps or Release Management experience; or combination of education, knowledge and experience.
  • Expertise in source code branching strategies, continuous integration, software development lifecycles, and release management best practices. Expertise in languages like Groovy, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and TypeScript.
  • Deep expertise in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS), containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform), and process automation.
  • Proven ability to design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and scalable containerized applications.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Logical thinking in making decisions, completing work tasks, and solving problems.
  • Able to translate low level engineering concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, decision-making, and negotiation.
  • Quick to adapt and eager to learn.
