The Reactor Operator Trainee II reports directly to the Assistant Reactor Manager-Operations. The primary purpose of this position is to learn about Reactor Operations, and ultimately obtain a Reactor Operator license. Key Responsibilities Operate and control the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) in accordance with policies and procedures to protect the public from radiation and to ensure environmental safety Successful candidates will be persuasive communicators with exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must demonstrate the following durable skills : leadership, character, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, metacognition, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Additionally, customer service, confidentiality, integrity, and a commitment to the university values. Must be available for regular and consistent onsite work, including inclement weather closures and holidays. Shift
Shift work/scheduled shift. This will be discussed in a potential interview. Nights and weekends as required. Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma with a focus on high level mathematics and science or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and meet the health requirements of American National Standard ANSI/ANS-15-4-2007. Must become licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a Reactor Operator at the University of Missouri Research as a Reactor within eighteen (18) months of employment. Must meet the security requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, including FBI identification and a criminal history record check based on fingerprinting. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a nuclear related field or 5-years applicable experience Ability to identify and operate basic mechanical tools Familiar with human performance error prevention tools Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $25.25 - $29.25 per hour Community Information
