Summary:
Responsible for providing professional interpretation services to patients and healthcare providers with limited English proficiency (LEP) on an as-needed basis. This role involves facilitating effective communication between patients and healthcare providers to ensure accurate understanding of medical information, treatment options, and patient care instructions. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Functions: Provide clear and accurate interpretation services in person, over the phone, or through video conferencing for patients and healthcare providers with limited English proficiency. -Demonstrate cultural sensitive and awareness when interpreting, taking into consideration the cultural background and beliefs of the patients and healthcare providers. -Advocate for patients' rights and facilitate their understanding of medical procedures, treatment plans, and healthcare decisions. -Maintain accurate records of interpretation encounters, including the date, time, duration, and individuals involved. -Collaborate with other hospital staff, including medical interpreters, healthcare providers, and patient advocates, to ensure effective communication and patient-centered care. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in a human relations field (i.e. Sociology, Psychology) preferred LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS: Certificate of completion of medical interpretation training.
