Your role:

As a critical member of the Mountain Home team, the Utility Technician contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by maintaining Boiler Room controls and other critical systems (including water for milling operations, process air and steam) that support plant operations in the manufacturing of flexible containers which hold IV therapies, premixed drugs, renal therapies, or other sterile solutions.

This position is normally a 12-hour shift.

You'll be offered extensive training, and the tight-knit working environment within the Manufacturing team means employees get additional training from their direct manager and peers when needed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Using critical systems specifications and Mountain Home standard operating procedures, be able to monitor instrumentation, microprocessor controllers and gauges to ensure that all systems and equipment are operating in compliance.
  • Learn the operational and documentation practices required to properly operate, monitor, and maintain high purity water systems, boilers, stills, air compressors, the cooling water system and water treatment systems equipment.
  • Perform necessary operations to start and stop all boiler room equipment using hand tools, electrical and pneumatic valves, tank mixer, air drives and pumps.
  • Communicate with supervisors, superintendents, engineering, and managers of various departments, determining the need for starting or stopping equipment, adjusting to production needs.
  • Perform necessary operations to regenerate exhausted pollutant stripping media, conduct necessary chemical testing and make process adjustments in accordance with standard operating procedures and specifications.
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance such as the replacement of bearings, valves, and components.
  • Monitor critical systems and equipment, recording information according to our quality management system (QMS).
  • Clean and sanitize high purity and other water systems according to specifications.
  • Support project work to improve and modify assigned productions equipment, as well as assisting in the installation of new equipment and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure the proper use, care, and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, major mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles during maintenance and after the work has been completed.
  • Learn, understand, and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • In an environment which requires the following PPE requirements: safety glasses and ear plugs (additional PPE required when handling acid and caustic chemicals)
  • Fast paced environment while maintaining safety awareness.
  • Constant or intermittent exposure to elevated levels of noise
  • The air in this environment is typically very warm and humid.
  • This position involves working around moving equipment, pipes carrying steam and pressurized machinery.
  • This position involves working around equipment, machinery, and belts.
  • Requires occasionally working with chemical cleaners and disinfectants.

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
  • Must have the ability to maintain records regarding material, equipment, and repairs.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • One year of manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • One year experience with the operation and/or maintenance of a boiler room (preferred)
  • Lifting and carrying on average up to 15 pounds frequently throughout the shift with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.
  • Must be able to squat, crawl, climb, kneel, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, kneel, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.
  • Must be able to train and Pass the requirements to become a certified Boiler Operator for the State of Arkansas.

Physical / Safety Requirements

  • Duties require overtime work, including nights and weekends
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
  • Position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand/walk for up to 12 hours.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Vantive, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is 38,400 to 57,600 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
