The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The incumbent oversees the daily operations of all Columbia Print business components and locations. The Assistant Director (AD) is an integral part of Columbia Print responsible for servicing the entire campus, comprised of more than 20,000 students, 8,000 faculty members and 3,000 administrators. The AD oversees the following components of the business: Graphic Design, document duplication services, Bulk Mail, and Print shops located at the CU and CUIMC campuses.

The AD is responsible for ensuring that the department is operating efficiently and effectively and works with other departments to ensure that the Print shops are a safe working environment. The AD oversees over 15 FTE's. The AD is also responsible for assisting with oversight and troubleshooting of the Copier Program comprised of over 850 multi-function print devices across all campuses. Responsible for managing expenses and revenues for all of the above-mentioned business components valued at approximately $11 Million.

A strong internal candidate has been identified for this position, and the backfill role of Manager, Print Services will be eliminated, ensuring no increase in headcount.

Responsibilities



  • Effectively manage the operational responsibilities of a budget of $11 Million across Columbia Print businesses. Ensure a service-centric business model with adherence to policies, procedures and proper equipment use.
  • Direct the management of 15+ employees in all business units. Oversee development and training of the staff to ensure high quality customer service, cross training, staff development and succession planning. Ensure compliance with the terms of union agreements.
  • Develop work processes and procedures with the Director and Finance team to ensure fiscal integrity of operations.
  • Ensures that Copier Program meets contractual SLA's and provides oversight of new copier requests and copier removals and troubleshoots client service interruptions with vendor.
  • Assists with Marketing strategies to increase client base.
  • Guarantees all production equipment is operational and that the department remains competitive both technologically and operationally.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining departmental policies & procedures.
  • Ensures that inventory levels are always ready to meet the demand of the customers.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of related experience are required.
  • Must have a firm understanding of collective bargaining agreements and recent experience managing bargaining unit employees.
  • Ability to reconcile and manage operational budgets for multiple units is necessary.
  • Broad computer skills required including Adobe In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to build relationships across multiple business units and customer service base.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • An advanced degree and experience in an administrative services role for a complex organization preferred
  • 3-5 years supervision of staff preferred.
