What You Will Do:

  • Thinks innovatively and strategically: provides daily advice and counsel on a broad range of US labor and employment laws and regulations including Human Resources support, compensation (including compliance with the FLSA), internal investigations, immigration, Company policies and guidelines, employee time away from work (leaves of absence, including FMLA and medical leave), disability accommodations, and employee discipline.

  • Responsibilities will include all matters related to employees, including, but not limited to, employment litigation, discrimination complaints, accommodation matters, use of background checks and other Fair Credit Reporting Act matters, employment litigation, responding to requests for employee information, responding to employee garnishment notices and court orders, reviewing and drafting policies and procedures related to employee matters, and drafting of various forms of employment agreements.

  • Additional duties will focus on matters arising out of joint employment and co-employment, including matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act, federal contractor regulations, and employee rights & employer responsibilities, including interacting with the Department of Labor, EEOC, and other state and federal agencies and departments.

  • Support HR due diligence teams, advise on risk, and negotiate employment terms and conditions in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

  • Maintain highest confidences and integrity in directing, managing, or participating in internal investigations in conjunction with HR and Compliance groups.

  • Conduct training for Human Resources & Management personnel regarding matters related to employment law developments and individual liability for compliance matters, as well as matters related to joint employment.

  • Work collaboratively with the Company's compensation and benefits attorney on issues related to employee and executive compensation and benefits.

  • Responsible for management of outside counsel, including budget management, where they may provide support in these areas.

Who You Are:

  • J.D. (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school.

  • Must be licensed to practice law in at least one state.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with extensive knowledge in a broad spectrum of labor and employment law matters.

  • Collaborative, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation and legal reasoning skills.

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others in a diverse and dynamic enterprise and coordinate a variety of internal and external activities having legal significance to the Company.

  • Flexibility and a pragmatic, collaborative approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to manage issues and workload independently with limited supervision.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Sound judgment, ethics and integrity.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Experience in liquids, gas pipelines industry is a plus.

  • In-house litigation management experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Included but not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time. Office environment with occasional travel to various offices of the Enbridge organization or third party locations, including internationally, as required.

Mental Requirements:

Included but not limited to: Handling a full workload and providing advice and applications on very short timelines, working in a fast paced office environment, high degree of independence and autonomy, concentrated levels of reading and studying, some overtime may be required.

Salary: Ranges from $112,500- $180,100 based upon experience.
