Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

As the Director of Wholesale (WHS) Marketing, you will lead the strategic development and execution of the wholesale marketing function across Digital Marketing, Trade Marketing, and Visual Merchandising. This role is responsible for ensuring a seamless and impactful consumer journey across key wholesale accounts, optimizing marketing investments to drive brand presence, engagement, and sell-through.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Brand Activation, and external retail partners to implement consumer-focused strategies that enhance brand equity and commercial success. This role requires a strong ability to balance long-term strategic planning with in-season execution while demonstrating strong leadership skills to guide and inspire teams, ensuring that adidas continues to win at the point of sale.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership



  • Define and implement a comprehensive wholesale marketing strategy that integrates Digital Marketing, Trade Marketing, and Visual Merchandising to drive business growth and enhance brand positioning.
  • Set the strategic direction for seasonal campaigns, product launches, and brand activations, ensuring alignment across wholesale partners while delegating execution to appropriate teams.
  • Establish clear objectives and KPIs for each function under your leadership, ensuring measurable business impact.
  • Lead a team of senior managers and guide their development through coaching, goal-setting, and performance management.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through effective leadership and collaboration across teams.



Functional Oversight



  • Provide strategic direction across Digital Marketing, Trade Marketing, and Visual Merchandising, ensuring an integrated approach to wholesale marketing.
  • Oversee execution strategies for key seasonal campaigns, product launches, and consumer activations across all wholesale channels, ensuring alignment across physical and digital retail.
  • Ensure alignment between global and local marketing initiatives to optimize brand visibility and consumer engagement.
  • Partner with internal teams and external retail partners to drive marketing programs that maximize sell-through and elevate brand presence.
  • Monitor budget allocation and investment efficiency to ensure optimized marketing resource utilization.
  • Oversee performance tracking and measurement frameworks to evaluate marketing effectiveness and support data-driven decisions.
  • Establish reporting mechanisms to measure efficiency and commercial success, ensuring continuous optimization.
  • Ensure the right talent is staffed in key direct report positions in coordination with HR, focusing on team capability building and succession planning.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Sales, Merchandising, Brand Marketing, Finance, and Demand Planning to drive an integrated approach to wholesale marketing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for global teams, ensuring best practices are implemented across NAM.
  • Work closely with key account teams to ensure marketing strategies align with account needs and growth opportunities.
  • Influence and collaborate with external retail partners to elevate adidas' presence within the wholesale channel.


Operational Excellence

  • Provide strategic direction to ensure the execution of the seasonal 'Account Marketing Calendar' aligns with key performance indicators and commercial objectives.
  • Oversee measurement frameworks to track the effectiveness of account activation plans, ensuring execution excellence through both visual impact and sell-out performance.
  • Oversee budget and cost control, ensuring marketing investments yield maximum ROI.
  • Accountable for managing the seasonal activation calendar process, from planning to in-store implementation, ensuring seamless coordination across stakeholders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the consumer retail environment, including distribution points, competitor strategies, and support tools to enhance execution efficiency.
  • Ensure the successful execution and implementation of toolkits by directing teams to align with customer requirements and in-store deployment needs.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in Digital Marketing, Trade Marketing, and Visual Merchandising within a wholesale environment.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills to optimize marketing effectiveness.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across different functions, levels, and external partners.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex strategies to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.



Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Marketing, Digital, or Account Management.
  • Prior experience in a senior leadership role managing multiple marketing functions.
  • Proven success in working with wholesale partners and executing marketing strategies across multiple retail touchpoints.
  • Experience managing large marketing budgets and delivering measurable ROI.

  • We officially returned to office in a hybrid work environment, working 3 days in office and 2 days remote. The working location of this position is Portland, Oregon.
