ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Technical Engineer will act as technical expert for a specific discipline to ensure all related construction activities are performed in accordance with accepted professional standards. Under direct supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. With additional experience within one functional area, assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations, and surveys with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. The Technical Engineer will be responsible for working in multi-disciplinary environment; providing structure's design review services and solve structural issues during the construction period. The structures of the projects include several bridges 3 - 6 spans with precast girders, two aqueducts, retaining walls, as well as non-typical structures culverts and inlets.

Responsibilities:

  • Review detailed calculations, drawings, bill of quantities, technical specifications, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, detailed analyses, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes
  • Coordination with Construction for Monthly progress
  • Prepare information for Request for Information (RFI) to solve Technical Issues
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Engineers working on the same project
  • Review supplier drawing submittals, review shop drawings and respond to field requests for information and perform technical bid analyses
  • Provide periodic onsite construction inspections when a structural issue is detected
  • Revision of temporary works developed by others such as erection of girders, formworks or others required prior to the construction
  • Review of the as built information provided by the Designer to be coherent with the final solutions carried out at site

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in Cut and Bend list
  • Extensive knowledge checking design, calculations, specifications, and drawings
  • Computer skills: high level knowledge of Microsoft Office products, CAD and Blue Beam
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently with or no supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or Technical Engineering from a recognized accredited program
  • 8+ years of work experience in technical engineering. Minimum of 2 years working in the technical department for Contractors
  • PE license (preferred)

  • Microsoft

  • AutoCAD

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily indoors
  • This work environment may involve minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
