Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Weld Engineer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the welding engineer and the quality department with maintaining and improving the Welding Program. Assess the compliance of QMS documentation with the ISO 9001:2000 International Standard, statutory, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Communicate with executive and management personnel, and general workforce. Communicate with Regulatory Bodies, Customer Representatives and other agencies for compliance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Develop PQRs, WPSs and WPQs.
  • Conduct audits of welding processes.
  • Train welding personnel.
  • Analyze current welding processes and implement changes to improve the quality and / or manufacturability.
  • Develop new welding processes.
  • Pursue Level II in various NDT processes.
  • Record and analyze inspection metrics.
  • Respond to and resolve NDT related Corrective Actions.
  • Assist welding engineer with compliance to FMM contracts, specifications and procedures.
  • Improve current welding processes and develop new ones when requested.
  • Responsible for answering welding related questions in accordance with FMM requirements.
  • Assist manufacturing in the following welding and thermal cutting processes; SAW, FCAW, GTAW-P, GTAW, GMAW-P, GMAW, SMAW, PAC, OFC, and CAC.
  • Should have good hands on welding capabilities.
  • Must have technical understanding of basic welding and thermal cutting principles.
  • Interpret and evaluate drawings, specifications, and welding codes and standards.
  • Responsible for the development, review, and implementation of company policy, procedure, plans, and work instruction.
  • Responsible for issuing internal corrective action requests to all business units and personnel. Responsible for evaluating corrective measures for implementation and effectiveness. Evaluate requests for corrective action from all personnel, interpret internal audit results, consider management review output, and issue corrective action to business units and personnel accordingly. Administer internal audit activities to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective measures.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, planning, execution, and documentation of internal audits.
  • Responsible for communicating with management personnel, and general workforce. Communicates with Regulatory Bodies, Customer Representatives and other agencies for compliance with requirements.
