Fresh Thyme Market is seeking a Director of Merchandising Services to work with our Merchandising, IT, and Operations departments to lead the company's merchandising systems that include: data integrity, pricing execution, signs and tags, inventory management (ordering and receiving).

Position will follow a hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team that implements and executes regular retail and promoted pricing input from the Merchandising Groups that support the category P&L goals and maintain accurate price positions in our stores and operating areas.
  • Maintain retail store & category price positions within defined guidelines through performance tracking, root-cause definition, financial analysis, and defining necessary changes.
  • Lead a team that is responsible for inventory management which includes store ordering across all departments.
  • Set a strategy and vision for overall data integrity which includes: pricing, signs and tags, ordering, and space planning.
  • Lead a team responsible for instore sets, planograms, and space to sales planning.
  • Maintain constant awareness of markets, competitor activities and problems within assigned customer base, recognize trends that develop, and make appropriate tactical recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with various functions across the organization to achieve company goals for price execution including category management, finance, retail operations, and advertising.
  • Manage the daily/weekly implementation of price tags & signage. Coordinate the development of new shelf-edge communication to enhance the merchandising plan to consumers.
  • Identify, initiate, and implement projects to increase sales, gross margin, item volume and reduce O&A expenses. Identify opportunities for improvement processes in general working practices and team efficiency.
  • Ensure that promotional pricing is accurate in all retail stores by improving the necessary processes that span the multiple departments responsible. Respond to customer (external and internal) requests/issues related to pricing.
  • Coordinate the execution of single-store pricing events such as store opening, closings, competitive price checks, etc.

Supervisory and Organizational Relationships / Primary Interactions:

  • Will manage a team of Price Integrity and Price Analysis Personnel.

Primary Contacts/Interactions:

  • Maintain positive daily working relationships for effective communication with other departments is essential to the performance of duties, along with a wide range of customers, agents and vendors. Interacts with the company's senior management to strategize, plan, and execute various related actions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' administrative experience required.
  • Business administration, marketing, finance, economics or closely related discipline and food retail industry experience highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good technical/working knowledge of specific types of Retail Software systems such as Pricing, Merchandising (Retalix HQ), Space Management (Apollo), and POS (ISS45), along with other store-based retail systems.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with various functional departments to achieve company goals. Must possess effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Analytically driven problem solver with the ability to identify multiple solutions and evaluate all associated risks. Should be able to demonstrate PC proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as learn any corporate or industry software used by the position.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate team members. Known thought leader with effective influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to identify, initiate and provide business value to the operation.
  • Positive attitude with an ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • "Hands-on" management style and a willing to do "whatever it takes" attitude.
  • Experience with developing, maintaining and updating schedules and reports for various projects.
  • Advanced customer service skills. Able to diplomatically communicate.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently, excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Possess outstanding organizational and time management skills.

The pay range for this position is listed below. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location.

$116,000.00 - $185,600.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Specific pay rates will be within this range and based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team of this role.

Compensation for this position also includes incentive bonus opportunities that may vary based on individual and company performance. Specific details will be discussed during the hiring process.
