Job Overview: The Manager of Patient Transport is directly responsible for the efficient operation of the Transport department through supervisory and administrative work. They oversee daily operations ensuring timely, efficient, and quality transportation services for patients. This role includes staff management, training, budget management, and maintaining positive relationships with direct reports, Ancillary departments and Nursing units. The manager is dedicated to enhancing service quality and productivity through continuous improvement and effective team dynamics. They lead and document all efforts to improve customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will work primarily a day-shift position, with a weekend and evening-shift on a quarterly basis. Ensure that the Patient Transport department is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations. Qualifications: Preferred:
- Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution
- 3-5 years experience in hospital Transport management or supervision
- Customer service and management experience
Scheduling Requirements:
- Primarily 8:30am-5:00pm with an evening shift on a quarterly basis
- Primarily Monday-Friday with a weekend shift on a quarterly basis
- Full Time

- Maintains positive relationships with all customers, employee, physician, patient, visitor, and guests
- Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs
- Uses sound employee relations practices and maintains high levels of visibility and accessibility

- Utilizes principles of CQI in all work situations
- Seeks feedback and recommendations from others to improve the quality, processes and services
- Contributes to improving quality services and productivity (takes the initiative to continually evaluate one s work, report problems, suggest solutions and try new ideas)
- Effectively allocates and schedules resources
- Able to project and appropriately staff the unit/department to effectively function to demand
- Utilizes resources, both labor and non-labor to maximize efficiency and quality
- Adheres to budgetary guidelines and targets-proactively manages budget variances and causes
- Determines priorities and organizes work and time to meet them
- Follows sound employee retention techniques, effective selection and interviewing, recognition, fair and timely discipline, and ongoing performance feedback
- Interacts constructively, tactfully and diplomatically with others and resolves conflicts effectively
- Demonstrates cultural competency and ability to maintain a diverse workforce
- Completes tasks and assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
- Remains positive and focused despite obstacles and setbacks
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing assignments
- Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals
- Preparation of bi-monthly schedules and payroll, utilizing computerized Time and Attendance System. Schedule resources according to existing labor budgetary
- parameters. Assess and revise job analysis and descriptions to promote efficiency
- Provide timely and effective disciplinary action according to department and hospital rules and regulations.
- Complete performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Encourage recognition of staff through organizational programs
- Manage day-to-day transport activities
- Monitor performance to promote efficiency by conducting Leadership rounds on nursing units and ancillary departments regularly
- Ensure staff assignments and duties are completed to meet established standards for timeliness, service, and productivity
- Responsible for human resource functions related to interviewing, hiring, and retention of staff by working closely with the recruiter in a timely manner
- Initiates and maintains appropriate personnel records
- Functions as a staff role model by promoting cooperative problem solving, positive progressive discipline, individual and group goal orientation, appropriate delegation of departmental activities, individual coaching and counseling, regular attendance at staff meetings, annual performance appraisals, and active participation in the activities of the department
- Participate in Culture Committees
- Proactively promote patient satisfaction by implementing and performing quality assurance activities
- Analyze and react to trends in Press Ganey Surveys and adjust procedures and processes for improvement
- Seek solutions to deviations in quality or services
- Establish an environment that provides timely service and recovery when necessary and promotes visibility of the transport manager on the patient floors through daily/weekly rounds
- Promotes communication in the transport department through regularly scheduled meetings and safety huddles for all shifts
- Provides performance feedback including timely performance evaluations, and the establishment of competencies for work specific criteria
- Maintains employee profile documentation with education information
- Manages department orientation and training programs
- Supervises and documents the training of new associates and works closely with the mentors to ensure a proper foundation of training to reduce turnover
- Analyzes data to promote throughput and reduce delays
- Establish quality metrics and collect data regarding the transport process
- Implements changes in process to increase efficiency and safety of the transport process
- Reports data to Process Improvement Council and participates in the quality fair
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams to promote collaboration
- Prepare regular reports for Director of Operations and Vice President of Operations
- Prepare annual goals and objectives
