Leopardo, nationally ranked ENR top 400 GC and top 100 green builder, is looking for a Safety Manager to lead our company wide safety program. For us, safety is more than a priority or goal. Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing the company safety and loss control program within their specified groups (regional location with multiple projects). The Safety Manager will work with leadership to develop, implement, evaluate, and update safety plans on projects ranging from low to high safety complexity. Supervision and development of safety staff and resources, including but not limited to Safety Coordinator(s) and safety consultants, will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to a best-in-class safety program built on continuous improvement, including development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of guidelines, policies, procedures, and the overall safety program
  • Exhibit positivity, passion, integrity and responsibility
  • Assist with the development and implementation of short and long-term departmental goals, policies and operating procedures
  • Research new regulations and developments in the field of Health and Safety. Identify and recommend changes in the Company's program
  • Document and implement required or desired changes in the safety program
  • Create and manage safety program budgets
  • Compile safety metrics and key performance indicators for management
  • Act as an internal consultant and liaison for operational staff, business units, and departments with respect to safety
  • Provide safety guidance in the construction planning stages including but not limited to estimating, project safety plans, and pre-installation meetings. Identify procedures and responsible parties to implement action items
  • Communicate, engage, and interact with leadership and counterparts (e.g., Human Resources, Operations, Sustainability)
  • Mentor Leopardo employees, including Safety Coordinators, to foster the growth of each individual's safety capacity as applicable
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct safety education programs for Leopardo management, supervision, and employees. Provide and monitor the necessary training resources with applicable supervision. Train Leopardo employees to perform meaningful safety observations and evaluations
  • Conduct project safety observations and evaluations on a regular basis to assure compliance with Company guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Attend and contribute regularly to Company and project safety meetings
  • Participate in the incident investigation and emergency response process for Leopardo. Submit timely reports to management regarding the status of the incident prevention program
  • Interact with Regulatory, Liability, and Workers' Compensation parties including but not limited to Insurance/Risk Management Departments and insurance entities to report, evaluate, and monitor the status of safety efforts
  • Participate in cross-functional teams outside of direct span of control within the main Company divisions (e.g., Quality and Training)
  • Participate in and nurture broad networks of alliances with others to exchange knowledge and information to develop and implement industry best practices in support of change initiatives
  • Take an active role in industry associations, and actively network and promote Leopardo
Education / Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety/Health or related field or equivalent training and experience required
  • 5+ years of experience as a construction and/or safety professional
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite; Viewpoint a plus
  • Experience in Lean construction a plus
Supervisory Requirements: This position is responsible for the direct supervision of regional Safety Coordinators, as well as direct influence and interaction with regional safety consultants.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations :
  • OSHA 30 Hour (or better) required
  • Valid driver's license is a necessity
  • Safety Trained Supervisor, Construction Health and Safety Technician, Safety Management Specialist, Certified Safety Professional, or similar accredited certifications a plus

Leopardo considers many factors when determining actual salary including experience, education, unique skillsets, abilities, market, geography and business needs. Target base salary range: $95-115k. This position is eligible for annual discretionary bonus and vehicle allowance. Leopardo does not discriminate based on any protected category with respect to wages.
